Monk Rework Survey

While many aspiring knights choose a traditional steed such as a chocobo, not every knight is so usual. Some choose instead to either forge a kinship or a shaky alliance with a creature far more scaled and dangerous.

The wyvern rider is an archetype of the chocobo knight class.

Wyvern Mount (Ex)

At 1st level, rather than bonding with a yellow chocobo, a wyvern rider makes a bond with a capricious, fearsome, but loyal young wyvern. The wyvern has statistics as follows, and is of the Dragon typing (using a D12 as its hit die, full BAB, all Good saves, 6+Int skills). The wyvern otherwise uses the Chocobo Knight’s mount companion table and counts as a chocobo mount for chocobo knight class features. The wyvern cannot speak, but can understand the rider’s first language (usually Common) and Draconic. The wyvern has magic item slots as an avian body type creature.

Sky Strafe (Ex)

At 6th level, a wyvern rider’s wyvern mount gains Flyby Attack as a bonus feat, even if it would not meet its prerequisites. If it already possesses Flyby Attack, it can instead gain a combat feat of its choice for which it qualifies.

This ability replaces master feeder.
