Class Features

The following are the class features of the disciple of the land NPC class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

The disciple of the land is proficient with one simple weapon (usually a pick axe, an axe, or a sickle, depending on his profession). He is not proficient with any other weapons, nor is he proficient with any type of armor or shield.

Gatherer Profession (Ex)

At 1st level, a disciple of the land must choose one of the three professions: Botanist, Fisher, Miner.

  • A botanist receives the following items for free: A handaxe and a sickle.
  • A fisher receives the following items for free: A fishhook, fishing tackle, fishing net, and a brass knife.
  • A miner receives the following items for free: A pickaxe and light hammer.

A disciple of the land is proficient with all received weapons from his gatherer profession in addition to his starting weapon proficiency. In addition, a disciple of the land receives a +2 competence bonus on Profession checks.

Material Sight (Su)

At 5th level, a disciple of the land knows instinctively of where ore is located, the best wood/plants to harvest from, or even know where the best fishing spot. A disciple of the land gains a 60-ft. range of knowing these things.

Gathering Expertise (Ex)

At 10th level, a disciple of the land gains an expertise with his chosen profession. At 13th level and every three disciple of the land levels thereafter, he gets to choose another expertise.

  • Bountiful Yield (Ex): This ability increases the number of items a disciple of the land gains by harvesting by 1 (only items from harvesting, does not work with the giving land ability). This can be selected more than once.
  • Sharp Vision (Ex): This ability increases the disciple of the land’s material sight by 30 feet. This can be selected more than once.
  • The Giving Land (Ex): This ability allows the disciple of the land to gain an elemental shard (of his choice) when harvesting. This can be only selected once.

Bounty of Nature (Su)

Once per day at 15th level, the disciple of the land can bless a meal of fishes, fruits, grains, or vegetables so that, when consumed prior to resting, it increases the amount of natural healing from which a creature benefits after an eight-hour rest. This blessing can affect a number of creatures equal to half his disciple of the land level plus his Wisdom modifier. Each affected creature regains 2 hit points per Hit Die and one additional point of ability damage to a single ability score of its choice after resting. At 20th level, each affected creature regains 3 hit points per Hit Die and one additional point of ability damage to every ability score that has been damaged after resting.
