An orator takes effort to master the subtle etiquette of noble courts, the whispers of dark rumors, and the customs of the cultured world.

The orator is an archetype of the bard class.

Deter

At 1st level, an orator gains Antagonize as a bonus feat.

This ability replaces musical power.

Coax Information (Ex)

At 1st level, an orator can use Bluff or Diplomacy in place of Intimidate to force an opponent to act friendly toward her.

This ability replaces distraction.

Social Presence (Ex)

Also, at 1st level, an orator gains a +1 bonus on all Bluff, Diplomacy, and Sense Motive checks. At 4th level and every four bard levels thereafter, this bonus increases by 1 (to a maximum of +6 at 20th level).

This ability replaces countersong.

Expert Mediator (Ex)

An orator learns to forge lasting harmony between enemies. At 2nd level, whenever the orator uses the Diplomacy skill to improve the starting attitude of a creature, that attitude shift lasts for 24 hours instead of 1d4 hours, barring any circumstance or event that causes it to be decreased. If the orator spends 1 minute continuously interacting with a creature, she can attempt a Sense Motive check (DC = 10 + the creature’s Bluff skill bonus) to identify the creature’s starting attitude (per the Diplomacy skill) in regard to all other creatures present (including herself). With this understanding, the orator can use the Diplomacy skill to improve a target’s attitude toward any other creature present. This functions as if using the Diplomacy skill to improve the target’s attitude toward the orator, but instead uses the Diplomacy DC determined by the target’s starting attitude toward the creature of the orator’s choosing.

This ability replaces versatile performance.

Hidden Meaning (Ex)

An orator’s deep knowledge of language provides her protection from effects that require communication. At 2nd level, she gains a +2 bonus on all saving throws against language-dependent effects. This bonus increases to +4 at 5th level and to +6 at 8th level. At 11th level, she gains immunity to language-dependent effects.

This ability replaces well-versed.

Fluent Speaker (Ex)

At 2nd level, an orator learns to speak one language with the skill of a native speaker. She chooses one language she knows and gains a +1 bonus on Disguise checks to appear as an individual native to any region where the language is primarily spoken. In addition, she gains a +1 bonus on both Diplomacy checks to change initial attitudes and Sense Motive checks to detect falsehoods when dealing with individuals with the selected language as their native language. At 6th level and every three bard levels thereafter, these bonuses increase by 1 and the orator can select one additional language that her bonuses apply to, up to a maximum of +6 each for six languages at 18th level.

This ability replaces a song talent gained at 2nd level.

Improved Deter

At 4th level, an orator gains Provoke as a bonus feat, even if she doesn’t meet the prerequisites.

This ability replaces wide audience.

Charmer (Ex)

At 4th level, once per day, an orator can roll two dice while making a Diplomacy check, and take the better result. She must choose to use this ability before making the Diplomacy check. An orator can use this ability one additional time per day for every four bard levels after 4th.

This ability replaces a song talent gained at 4th level.

Enemy of my Enemy (Ex)

At 6th level, an orator can sow discord with simple words. Whenever the orator makes a Diplomacy check to influence the attitude of a creature, she can adjust its attitude by up to three steps, rather than just two. In addition, she can use Diplomacy to worsen a creature’s attitude towards another. For every step she improves the creature’s attitude towards her, she can also simultaneously decrease the creature’s attitude towards a different creature by one step. The creature she is influencing must be able to either see the second creature or know the second creature from prior interaction to be influenced in such a manner (the orator cannot make the creature hostile towards a creature it doesn’t know about).

This ability replaces a song talent gained at 6th level.

Wordless Murmur (Ex)

At 7th level, an orator can use the Antagonize feat with creatures that can’t understand her, with a -4 penalty.

This ability replaces skilled performer.

Deterrent Verbiage (Ex)

At 8th level, when using the Antagonize feat, an orator uses the same check against all enemies within a 30-ft.-radius of her.

This ability replaces a song talent gained at 8th level.
