Many summoners can communicate with any one fayth to establish a mental link with them, enabling them to then summon the fayth’s aeon. These summoners are called Fayth Dreamers.

The fayth dreamer is an archetype of the summoner class.

Summon Aeon (Su)

At 1st level, a fayth dreamer can summon a powerful aeon creature called an Aeon. They are formed from raw ectoplasm. Aeons are the physical realization of the fayth’s dreams. The fayth communicate with fayth dreamers who pray to them, and establish a mental link between the fayth and the fayth dreamer. Using this link, the fayth gives their dream a physical form: an aeon. Aeons are powerful creatures only a fayth dreamer can use in battle. Aeons act as directed by their creators. As a free action, an aeon’s fayth dreamer can direct the aeon to attack particular enemies, use specific tactics or powers, perform other actions, or do nothing at all. The aeon does exactly what its fayth dreamer directs it to do. A fayth dreamer’s aeon counts as an avatar for the purposes of feats and class features.

An aeon generally appears as an animate clump of ectoplasm with a vaguely humanoid shape, but the fayth dreamer can mold or sculpt one according to his or her whim within the limits imposed by the creature’s size. The quality of such “aeon sculpture” is determined by a Craft (sculpting) check. A result of 10 to 19 creates a creature that is recognizably similar to the desired creature shape; a result of 20 to 29 creates an aeon that looks like an accurate portrayal of that creature type; a result of 30 or higher creates an aeon that looks like a specific individual. No matter how high the Craft (sculpting) check result, though, an aeon’s appearance can’t hide the otherworldly material from which it is formed.

An aeon has immunity to poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, disease, death effects, necromancy effects, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, and morale effects), and any effect that requires a Fortitude save unless it also works on objects or is harmless. It is not subject to nonlethal damage, ability damage, ability drain, fatigue, exhaustion, or energy drain. It cannot heal damage, but it can be healed by spells or healing effects.

Special Abilities: Every time an aeon is created, the fayth dreamer can choose to apply one special ability to the aeon (see below).

  • Class Level: The character’s summoner level. The summoner’s class levels stack with levels of any other classes that are entitled to an aeon for the purpose of determining the aeon’s statistics.
  • HD: This is the total number of 10-sided die (d10) Hit Dice the Aeon possesses. No Constitution modifier is applied to the Aeon’s hit points. The Aeon gets bonus hit points depending on its size: Small 10 HP, Medium 20 HP, Large 30 HP, Huge 40 HP. This is indicated on their entry below.
  • BAB: This is the aeon’s base attack bonus. Aeons do not gain additional attacks using its natural attack for a high base attack bonus.
  • Saves: These are the aeon’s base saving throw bonuses. An aeon has poor saving throws.
  • Skills: This lists the aeon’s total skill ranks. An aeon can assign skill ranks to any skill. An aeon’s Intelligence modifies the base value as normal. An aeon cannot have more ranks in a skill than it has Hit Dice. Aeon skill ranks are set once chosen. The following skills are class skills for aeons: Bluff (Cha), Craft (Int), Knowledge (planes) (Int), Perception (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), and Stealth (Dex). In addition, at 1st level, the fayth dreamer can choose 4 additional skills to be class skills for his aeon. Note that aeons with a fly speed receive Fly (Dex) as a free class skill.
  • Feats: This is the total number of feats possessed by an aeon. Aeons can select any feat that they qualify for, but they must possess the appropriate appendages to use some feats. Aeon feats are set once chosen.
  • Darkvision (Ex): The aeon has darkvision out to a range of 60 feet.
  • Link (Ex): A fayth dreamer and his aeon share a mental link allows for communication across any distance (as long as they are on the same plane). This communication is a free action, allowing the fayth dreamer to give orders to his aeon at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with the fayth dreamer’s connection to his aeon. As a result, the fayth dreamer and his aeon share magic item slots. For example, if the fayth dreamer is wearing a ring, his aeon can wear no more than one ring. In case of a conflict, the items worn by the fayth dreamer remain active, and those used by the aeon become dormant. The aeon must possess the appropriate appendages to utilize a magic item.
  • Evasion (Ex): If an aeon is subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex save for half damage, it takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw.
  • Ability Score Increase (Ex): The aeon adds +1 to any one of its ability scores.
  • Improved Evasion (Ex): When subjected to an attack that allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, an aeon takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and only half damage if the saving throw fails.

  • Trample (Ex): As a standard action during its turn each round, a Large or larger aeon can literally run over an opponent at least one size smaller than itself. It merely has to move over the opponent to deal bludgeoning damage equal to 1d8 + its Str modifier. • Pounce (Ex): If the aeon charges a foe, it can make a full attack.
  • Rend (Ex): The aeon makes claw attacks instead of slam attacks (it deals the same amount of damage as it would with its slam damage, but does slashing damage instead of bludgeoning damage). An aeon that hits the same opponent with two claw attacks in the same round rends its foe, which deals extra damage equal to 2d6 + 1-1/2 times its Str modifier.
  • Spell Resistance (Ex): The aeon gains spell resistance equal to 10 + its Hit Dice.
  • Spring Attack (Ex): The aeon gains the Spring Attack feat.

This ability replaces avatar and summon monster I-IX.
