Class Features

All of the following are class features of the ruin mage prestige class.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency

Ruin mages gain no proficiency with any weapon or armor.

MP per Day / Spells Known

At each level, a ruin mage gains MP per day and spells known as if he had also gained a level in a spell-casting class to which he belonged before adding the prestige class level and an increased effective level of spellcasting. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of this class would have gained. If he had more than one spell-casting class before becoming a ruin mage, he must decide to which class to add each level for the purpose of determining MP per day and spells known.

Limit Break (Su)

At 1st level, the ruin mage receives the Limit Break (Multiple of Missiles).

Multiple of Missiles (Su): This Limit Break allows the ruin mage to double his number of missiles for a short time. For a duration of 1 round + 1 round per ruin mage level, whenever he would cast any type of Ruin spell, it doubles the number of missiles. This limit break requires only a swift action.

Metamagic Expertise (Su)

At 1st level, whenever the ruin mage applies metamagic feats to his ruin spells, he reduces the MP cost by 1 (to a minimum of 1). At 5th level, this reduces by 2.

Powerful Ruin (Su)

At 2nd level, a ruin mage gains increased mastery over his spell of choice. Every time he casts ruin, he gains a +1 point of damage per die. This bonus increases to +2 points of damage per die at 4th.

Overpowering Ruin (Su)

At 3rd level, the ruin mage’s Ruin spells become especially potent, breaking through spell resistance more readily than normal. He gains a +2 bonus on caster level checks made to overcome a creature’s spell resistance with the spell Ruin. This benefit only applies to Ruin-line spells he casts. In addition, a ruin mage’s Ruins might penetrate Shield spells and Brooches of Shielding. Against such protections, the ruin mage reduces the absorption amount equal to the MP he spends on ruin (including metamagic costs).

Superior Ruin (Su)

At 5th level, a ruin mage’s ruin spells are now even more powerful. His ruin spells now deal d6s instead of d4s.
